Music and Lyrics by Susan Reslewic Keatley
The inspiration for this song was children separated from each other due to COVID. While that
has largely passed, there are many children, many friends, separated from each other, due to war
or scuffles over family politics or a million other reasons. This song is about the hope that one
day it will pass and these friends will find each other again.
Hey, can you come on over to my house?
Hey, can you come on over to play?
I know, I know, I know, I know, I know it’s been a while
I see you through your window.
Hey, did you see they opened the playground?
Hey, maybe we can go there next week?
We could swing and we could slide and roll down that hill.
No? Ok, well, maybe next time.
I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna stay away from you.
I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna, I don’t wanna stay way from you
For so long
So long
So long, my friend.
Hey, I don’t remember what you look like.
Hey, you’re smile is a blur.
Someday soon this will all go away
I need you, my friend.
Oh, I miss you, my friend.
